Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Since 2009, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue has been working to save shelter dogs and cats from certain euthanasia across the rural south and as far away as Puerto Rico and Hawaii. We are a volunteer-powered, 501c3 organization, and since our founding we have saved more than 30,000 dogs and cats from overcrowded, underfunded rural shelters.

In 2023, we took the huge step of opening our Rescue Campus in Florence County, South Carolina. Complete with an ICU, Ringworm Treatment Center, and Community Vet Clinic, the Rescue Campus provides life-saving care not just to Lucky Dogs and Cats but also to hundreds of community pets. Since that time, we have cared for over 3,700 animals; spayed and neutered over 3,180 pets, and provided over 500 vaccines and microchips free of charge to community owned pets.

Every year, 3-4 million animals are euthanized in shelters across the country. Without organizations like us, this number would more than double. What is so amazing about Lucky Dog is that we do this without a facility of our own. We don't discriminate based on breed. We don't turn our backs on animals with expensive medical conditions. We rely heavily on the generosity of unpaid volunteers who welcome dogs at transports, provide them with loving foster homes, drive them to and from adoption events, and carefully screen prospective adopters.
