Let Me Tell You About My FRANDS!

Meet the AMAZING Team behind the scenes at the Chesapeake Humane Society!  You've already met Alyssa and Marguax - here is the rest of the Animal Care Team that makes magic happen every single day for homeless animals in Chesapeake.

Lily, Animal Care Attendant - Lily says that her favorite part of working for CHS is giving the small animals: guinea pigs, rabbits, rodents, and even birds, just as much attention as the larger animals.  Lily makes sure that our small critters get regular enrichment in the form of fresh veggies and foraging boxes! 💜

Kendell, Our new Foster and Volunteer Coordinator - Kendell says that the best part of her role is helping volunteers find satisfaction in making a difference in their communities. 💚

Tiffany Gracie, Animal Care Attendant - Tiffany says that her favorite part about working for CHS is helping adopters find the pet that will best complete their families.  While she falls in love with almost every dog she works with, watching them go to their furever homes is the most rewarding part.

Grace O'Connor, Medical Coordinator - Grace says that ensuring all of the adoptable & crisis boarding animals are current on their medical needs is the most important part of her job.  She understands the importance of regular vaccinations and works hard to educate adopters on continued veterinary care. 💛

Katy Knight, Animal Care Attendant - Katy says that the very best part about working for the Chesapeake Humane Society is watching the dogs get out into the play yard for doggy play groups!  We like to say that dogs heal dogs, that is no more true then when they all get to play together in our big fenced in play yard. 💙

Carrie Terry, Animal Care Attendant - Carrie is our newest ACA! Carrie comes to CHS with a background in zoo and sanctuary work. Though new to sheltering, she’s quickly embraced the rewarding work of helping animals and the community. Carrie loves being part of programs like Pet Adoptions, the Pet Pantry, Foster Care, and Crisis Boarding, which support both pets and families in need. She's excited to see animals find forever homes and be reunited with their owners. 💜

Please donate today to support these AMAZING strong women in their mission to find every pet their purrfect furever home!

Can I interest you in a side of Green Beans?                            Green Beans (CHES-A-3263)

Meet Green Bean, a sweet six-month-old pup with a heart full of hope. He was just several weeks old when he first arrived at a rural shelter in Virginia, abandoned and alone. The shelter was overcrowded, and resources were limited. With so many animals in need of help, it was harder for the little ones, like Green Bean, to stand out.

One day, I received photos of Green Bean from a compassionate shelter worker at the rural shelter. His eyes were full of longing, and it was clear that he deserved a chance at a better life. It was heartbreaking to see him in such a crowded, understaffed shelter, so we immediately sprung into action to make arrangements to get him transferred to our shelter.

A dedicated volunteer helped transport Green Bean, and after quite a journey, he arrived at our shelter, where he was welcomed with open arms. We gave him the medical care he needed, nutritious food, and lots of attention. It didn’t take long for his personality to shine through. He went from a scared, lonely pup to an energetic, happy boy with a wagging tail and bright eyes.

Soon after his arrival, our medical team examined him, and after such a long day, he melted into the floor, exhausted. I decided to meet him where he was in that moment. So often, animals in the shelter system are simply begging for a break from the noise, the lights, and the overwhelming smells. Not long after his exam, a loving family came along who knew Green Bean was the perfect fit for them. They immediately fell in love with his gentle nature and were thrilled to welcome him into their home. Today, Green Bean is running, playing, and cuddling with his new family in a life full of love.

None of this would have been possible without the generosity of supporters like you. Your donations help us save lives and give animals like Green Bean the second chance they deserve!
