My first year of college living in the dorms was the singular year of my life in which I did not share my home with a pet. They have always been an important part of my life, bringing me endless joy, comfort, and happiness. Having pets has taught me how to love fiercely and unconditionally. They've taught me responsibility. I mirrored my parenting after years of experience training (and learning from) dogs - positive reinforcement works wonders on kids! Pets have even taught me how finite life is, how to grieve, and how to let go.
The human-animal bond is a beautiful thing, and the connection we share with animals has a ripple effect on the relationships with others in our lives.
At Tri-County Humane Society (TCHS), we have the opportunity to create thousands of bonds between people and pets every year, the social impact of which is immeasurable. For those of you who, like me, have benefited from having pets in your lives, the impact TCHS has on pets, people, and our community as a whole is clear.
But this important work comes with a cost. In 2024, almost $2 million was spent to help over 5,000 pets - approximately half of which came from donations and fundraisers. (TCHS does not receive any federal funding and very minimal grants.)
Please join me in supporting Tri-County Humane Society. Your gift of any size will make a difference for animals and people alike. Together, we can make dreams come true!
