Update #1

Update posted 20 days ago
Hi everyone! It's been such a busy time for me that Haven't had time to update my page, but I am beyond thrilled that we're already at over $26,615 at 11:20 p.m. on 4/5. Our goal was to get to $30,000 by noon, so I think we'll make it. It's been such a great day hosting people here at the shelter to hang out with the animals. I love seeing the joy they bring them and the animals have loved all the extra attention. This work is so amazing - I am so grateful to be able to dedicate my life to helping animals and people find each other to make their lives better. Thank you for your support!

In these divisive times, one thing that most people can agree on is that companion animals bring unconditional love, joy, and fun into our lives. Now more than ever, we need to "live in the moment" something that the beings at our shelter are so good at doing.

I am one of those lucky people who cares deeply about my work. I am so fortunate to be able to dedicate my time to leading a team of amazing people that also care deeply for our animals and work tirelessly every day to get them well and find them homes.

Heartland is truly a special place filled with so much blood, sweat, tears, and love; where all animals are appreciated for their innate goodness, even if they aren't always putting their best paw forward, and where we fight to give everyone as many good days as we can and a humane and dignified end if that's what they need us to do.

I have fostered, re-homed, fospiced and adopted so many amazing animals over the years - each one of them touched me differently - and it's always hard to lose them, but I want to dedicate this year's fundraiser to a few super special ones including - Tinker, Petra, Juice, Guillermo, Paloma, Bunny, Fritz, Miss Turtle, Ivy, Shakey, Monkey, Callie and Tatey, and to my amazing resilient blind, deaf survivor dog, Frida who teaches me to appreciate the little things every day and to never ever give up.
